We planned and developed cultural products for [Perfect Days], a bookstore and stay in Sokcho, Gangwon-do. We discussed how we wanted the local area (Sokcho) and the bookstore to be well connected, and noted that visitors to the area prefer quiet and simple travel and buy small souvenirs to remember their trip. In the end, we subjectively selected five symbols of Sokcho, Ulsan rock, mountain goats, ducks, Sokcho sea, pollock and dorumok, and [Perfect Days], and put them on the product as illustrations.

I had a lot of fun imagining the memories and satisfaction I would feel when a local symbol is presented to someone in an envelope, or when it is in the corner of a room after returning from a trip. I would also like to thank Kim Jeonghwal for his high-quality illustrations.

강원도 속초에서 서점과 스테이를 운영하는 [완벽한 날들]의 문화상품을 기획•개발하였습니다. 지역(속초)과 서점이 잘 연계될 수 있었으면 좋겠다는 의견을 나눴고, 이 곳 방문객들의 특성상 조용하고 소박한 여행을 선호하며, 기념이 될 만한 작은 선물을 사 간다는 점을 주목했습니다. 결론적으로 속초를 상징하는 ‘울산바위’, ‘산양’, ‘오리’, ‘속초바다’, ‘명태와 도루묵’ 5가지와 [완벽한 날들]을 주관적으로 선정하여 그림으로 상품에 담았습니다.

지역의 상징이 봉투에 담겨 누군가에게 선물되거나 여행에 돌아와 방 한켠에 있을 때 느껴지는 추억과 만족감을 상상하며 즐겁게 작업했습니다. 수준 높은 일러스트레이션으로 함께 해준 김정활님에게도 감사드립니다.
